Cruzbike Q45 Recumbent Touring Bike Tech Specs and Fit

    Frame

Unique swing arm design allows the Q45's robust aluminum frame to run a super smooth suspension system and pack down for travel.

      Front Triangle

Cruzbike's patented race-proven dynamic boom drivetrain is the engine of the Q45 recumbent touring bike. The same system that powers our performance bikes to records and wins powers the Q45 so you'll be able to take on whatever mountain range is on your bucket list, while hauling all your gear.

        Suspension System

The Q45 boasts a full-size (165 mm) external coil shock that rides super smoothly, accommodating a heavily-loaded bike and blowing open the terrain upon which the Q45 thrives. Mixed surfaces on that trip you're dreaming of doing? No problem.

          Adjustable Seat

The 2022 Q45 features a new resin seat that has a great compliant feel on the road, making this Q45 the most comfortable yet and it is half a pound lighter than its aluminum predecessor. It is ergonomically designed for comfort for riders of all shapes and sizes. The cushion is a one-piece dream that cradles its rider from shoulders to derriere. The seat back angle is also adjustable so you can get your backrest dialed in just the way you like it.

            Racks and Bosses

The Q45 is designed for hauling gear and mounting accessories. It boasts 8 threaded mount points on each side and one in the middle under the down tube plus a dedicated fender mount. Load up panniers, mount lights, install fenders - anything you need for your adventure - this bike can handle it.

              Dual 650b Wheels and Thru-Axles

We are the first recumbent bicycle company to offer dual 650b wheels and thru-axles. Thru-axles improve stiffness in the drivetrain, handling, cornering, and power transfer. We made these massive upgrades to the Q45’s spec to deliver even better performance and an even smoother ride. 650b wheels open up options to customize your Q45 with a huge variety of performance wheels and tires. This bike ships with 1.65 inch tires we chose for performance (even in wet weather), durability and value. And you'll still have plenty of space for fenders.

                Custom-designed Handlebar

The awesome custom-designed Q45 handlebar features road styling but is sized for mountain shifters and levers. This opens a whole world of component options and also creates more space in the cockpit for better rider fit.

                  Q45 Recumbent Touring Bike Components

For the new Q45 recumbent touring bike we upgraded to thru-axles, flat mount brakes and more. We chose 1x11 MTB components that balance performance, durability and value. This setup is designed to thrive even with a fully loaded Q45.

                  Attention Getting

I ordered the Q45 because a recumbent seat is more comfortable than a standard bike seat and I wanted the challenge of learning how to ride it. An added benefit is it attracts a lot of attention/curiosity. People in my area have never seen this kind of bike before and most say they’d be afraid to try it. I tell them that it took me several practice sessions in parking lots, but I eventually got the hang of it. I'm in my 70s, and when riding with a (younger) friend on their standard city bike, they are a little faster on level parts of the trail, but I can climb a little faster.

                  Cruzbike Q45

Really enjoy the bike but riding in a hilly area still wish I had more gears. After 30 mile rides I have no aches and pains anymore. Also really like being able to change my cushion based on temperature.

I miss the pain (not really ;-)

Earlier this year I set out on what was supposed to be a multi-week bike trip; up to this point I had completed several multi-day trips and experienced some pain but was always able to complete them. A few days in I was suffering pain in my neck, hands/wrists, and elsewhere, so I knew it was time to search for an alternative. An online search for a recumbent bike capable of supporting a long distance tour brought me the Cruzbike site, and the 100 day/mile guarantee hooked me to give the Q45 a try. It took a while to increase my confidence on the road, but this is now the only bike I ride. I haven't done multi-day rides yet (working on plans for an upcoming tour), but the rides so far have been absent any neck or hand/wrist pain, and I don’t miss the creams that were used elsewhere. I’ll also give a shout-out to the Cruzbike team for their customer support, and the Cruzbike forum that has provided an abundance of tips.

                  Great bike, once tweaked

I love my Cruzbike; comfortable and fast (for a touring bike). There were some quality control issues that required some work on my end up front, and Cruzbike was very accommodating in helping me work through those.
